RAND Graduate School (2005)
The mission was to update an existing site to meet the needs of the existing student body, in addition to being a marketing vehicle to attract new students.
Overview
- Size: 7 sections, approximately 240 pages
- Complexity: HTML, ASP, Javascript, Perl
- Maintenance: Daily
Challenges:
- To create a site distinct from the RAND corporate site, while maintaining clear ties to its parent.
- To implement a new system for candidate pre-screening and application submission.
- To implement a workflow to capture and display candidate, student and faculty data including student and staff bios.
Although recognized as the world's leading producer of Ph.D.s in policy analysis, the RAND Graduate School is mostly unknown. In order to increase public visibility of the school and generate interest among Ph.D. candidates, a new site was designed to showcase the school's unique learning environment, faculty, and curriculum, and also to provide applicants with better online forms.
Base in part on the success of the Web site, the RAND Graduate School is actively considering expanding its presence with satellite locations in Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh, PA.
